discrapancy or I'm just confused, a very real possibility

Question

when looking at results through our connections when searching with the Relationship Finder tool,  it has me listed as 4th cousin of Sir William Wade 16 times removed, yet he is listed on wikitree, through Relationship finder as the third great grandson of an "Anyll (venables) Brereton (abt 1375-bef. 1405)"  ---   wiki# Venables-16 --who is also listed on wikitree as my 19th Grandmother.

if he's her 3rd great grandson, and she's my 19 gr. grandmother, wouldn't he be my 22nd (or 23rd?) great grandfather instead of 4th cousin blah blah whatever?

I think the issue here is that you are looking at two different lines of descent from a common ancestor. From your common ancestor, your line goes through one child of the common ancestor, and Sir William through another.

If you have a desktop genealogy program you can enter both of these lines and then have the program create a chart that shows your exact relationship. The WikiTree relationship finder gives you the info, but it doesn’t present the relationship in an optimal manner.

William Wade Is my 8th cousin 15 times removed

Carson Is my 11th cousin once removed.
