Hi Wikitreers,

We have Mrs. Catherine F (Knodel) Talcott (1881 - 1959) who was a public school teacher (per 1930 census) and in researching the Talcott women of Historic Talcottville, Connecticut I have also observed her sister-in-laws Miss Faith Harriet Talcott (1882 - 1969) and Mrs. Jessie Bence (Goff) Talcott (1882 - 1959) were also school teachers.

Miss Faith and Mrs. Jessie Talcott we’re both graduates of Wellesley College it appears and I would like to know if Mrs. Catherine Talcott was also?

It seems they taught in different areas and not the same school system?

In the 1950 census occupation is listed as Christian Science Practitioners?

Is there an obituary for Mrs. Catherine Talcott?

It does seem Mrs  Catherine has German maternal ancestry? Who were her parents? Needs connecting…

Any collaboration in her genealogy is appreciated

See also: her FindAGrave memorial which has a beautiful photo of her in 19th century apparel.

To help in her genealogy research I have photographed her gravestone

Hi,

I found the engagement announcement for Catherine and her husband and it does say that she was a graduate of Wellesley

Thank you so much. I couldn’t find it! So all the women in this family group were teachers and graduates of Wellesley. How neat is that!!!

I’m not so sure if the last sibling was a graduate as well. Alice H (Talcott) Simoncelli (1896 - 1979) but be interesting to see what occupation she held?

Glad I could help smiley I wasn't able to find her obituary. According to the Family Search record  it was printed in The Plain Dealer newspaper which isn't on Newspapers.com for that year.

As I'm typing this I did one more search and came across the Cleveland Necrology File database held by the Cleveland Public Library. A search for Catherine Talcott brings up the index entry for her obituary (You can't access the full text without a library card).

Name: Talcott, Catherine Knodel
Date: Apr 7 1959
Source: Plain Dealer, Reel #127
Notes: Talcott, Catherine Knodel, wife of M. Gardner Talcott; residence, 1302 Cleveland Heights Blvd.; sister of Mrs. G. M. Whitmore of Irvingston, N. Y.; mother of M. Gardner Talcott Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. T. F. Musgrave of Mentor, O. and F. Bruce Talcott of Downey, Calif.; passed away Sunday, April 5, 1959. Services and burial private.

I haven't found anything new on Alice Talcott yet.

One more thing!

The Wellesley College Digital Repository has archives of their yearbooks and newspapers (and several other publications). If you do a text search Catherine Knodel and Faith Talcott appear several times. Still nothing for Alice, but I didn't do an extensive search here.

Thank you. I’ll look further into this source as the photos would be wonderful to view. Miss Faith was a valedictorian. I did notice both Mrs. Catherine Talcott and her husband did have autopsy checked as yes in the death record.
Middle name found in the source provided with repository.

Catherine Fredreka Knodel

On Wednesday March 9, 1904 the Agora Society received into membership Miss Faith Talcott. Her father Mr. M.H. Talcott also visited his daughter last week per article

Miss Faith H. Talcott is in the 1904 yearbook page 62

Her sister in law is in same class Miss Jessie B  Goff page 49

Her sister in law Catherine F. Knodel is in the 1903 yearbook page 54

Alice Talcott Simoncellie was also a graduate of Wellesley !!

This completes the picture. Amazing!

See her obit Hartford Courant, January 26, 1979, Page 8

The brothers married Wellesley Girls and the sisters both attended as well!

I wonder what year Alice graduated?

She did a lot of traveling see her profile for further detail

Edit: I looked for her in the 1918-1920 yearbooks but can’t find her yet
