Is Joseph Davie the father of Emily Sutherland?

Hi all!

I would like to ask whether anybody can prove this relationship. I believe my 5th-great-grandmother, Emily Sutherland (Sutherland-11364)'s father could be Joseph Davie (Davie-1169). His FindAGrave is here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/241445160/joseph-davie.

I believe that Emily's mother is not his spouse as shown on FindAGrave, but I cannot find anything to prove this. Does anybody have any information to help me, and if so, could they inform me of it or add a source to the profile.

I have found birth records for twin girls born May 5, 1817, baptized June 6,1817, named Amelia and Matilda.  Parents are Joseph Davie and Ann Sutherland.  They are living in a poorhouse in Greenwich, Woolwich, England but not as inmates.  It shows Joseph as a Corporal with the Sappers and Miners, which also is on his findagrave.  As for Emily I will keep looking.  And I don't know if Joseph and Ann were married.  More research required.

Thank you very much! This mostly fits the information that I have about her. My information says she was born on the 5th of May 1816. I think Amelia may be Emily, but I may be wrong. Thank you very much for your help!

Yes I think Emily and Amelia are the same person.  As for the birth year being off by exactly one year could be a transcription error or similar.  I cannot read the date on the headstone for Emily.  Also I think that the wife Isabella on that headstone is probably a second wife b/c Ann Sutherland died about 20 years before Joseph did.
