Can an unmerged match that becomes a rejected match be merged later if new supporting sources are found?

I could not find if an unmerged match was moved to rejected…if it could be merged later so I will ask the question on G2G. All I found was that unmerged matches are not meant to be permanent. Recommend leaving it as unmerged match for now. The question will show up in the upper right corner on this profile.

The reason for this question is conflation between 2 Rice profiles and Findagrave, see research notes.  There is Rice-21046 that has a link to Findagrave with a picture of a grave with 1815-1887 dates. It is not known if the 1815 date is correct or in error.
