Further research on newspaper articles for John Glenn McNabb trials - Carnal Knowledge of Ila Powney

I am currently researching John Glenn McNabb (1868-1937) as he is the recently discovered father of my great grandmother - Linda Powney (dec - don't know what year - hope you can help with this). Just like Kathleen Flanigan, Ila Annie Frances Powney (Linda's mother) took him to court (he was also her uncle by marriage) and there were newspaper articles re the trials. I'm trying to find any articles relating to the trial dated after December 1920 as it was supposed to be adjourned until Feb 1921 (according to the article in the Camperdown Chronicle dated December 1920 (found on Trove).  I would love to be able to find out if he was ever convicted or not. I know he died in a car accident in 1937 at Diggers Rest.

Like John McNabb Flanigan, there was no father listed on Linda's birth certificate, nor my father's for that matter.  My late father was adopted but his original name was William John Powney (name was changed to Trevor Spicer upon adoption). His youngest birth sister Beverley Lo Ricco (nee Powney) provided the names of her grandparents and great grandparents for us and from there I could piece the rest together on Ancestry as there were only 2 McNabb's in Colac - George Andrew McNabb (John's brother) - married to Alice Anson) and John Glenn McNabb - the newspaper articles I found added the rest of the information and confirmed my suspicions from what I found from the electoral roles at the time.

Ila's parents were Sarah Anson (1870-1963) and Richard Bath Powney (1867-1939)

Linda Powney had 9 children, my dad was the first. 7 of the children were all adopted and Linda kept 2 - Beverley Joy Powney (dec) and David Allan Powney.

I am not looking for information re my father or any of the other adopted children - I have that.

What I am looking for is information re the court cases re John McNabb & Ila Annie Frances Powney.

I'm also not sure how your search works coz nothing came up under search results - I found him on Google and got the info for Wikitree from there. Maybe I'm not searching correctly as I haven't had any luck with anyone. I'd appreciate some help on that too.

Sincerely hope you can help, and let me know if you need any more information, thanks  Bronwyn Spicer

Hi Bronwyn, it looks like we might be cousins. I belong to the Kathleen Flanigan and John McNabb side. John McNabb Flanigan is my grandfather

However, I had not known about your father.
