Do we have a category for people imprisoned/executed during the French Revoluion

I searched the French categories using en but couldn't find anything specific.  I have read there were thousands of prisoners so I am surprised that we don't have anything? Could there be a category on the French side of the site or is it a mirror image?

Alternatively, can anyone point me to a source where names might be listed?

I am actually looking for a person by the name of Restieaux.  Possibly related to this one - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Restieaux-31

It could also be this guys grandfather, not sure - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Restieaux

Any help appreciated

Thanks everyone!  Does anyone know of any external sources that might give additional information?

New! There is now a specific category: Victimes de la Terreur (Révolution Française), primarily intended for people who were executed/murdered during the troubled 1793/1794 period.

Maybe it's just an opinion, but I thoroughly despise the Methods of Execution categories and think it is totally disrespectful to lump victims of the Reign of Terror, Resistants who were guillotined by the Nazis, and serial murderers together.

In general, we have a noticeable lack of categories and projects for non-American historical events.

Hi Veronica. There's

Category: Révolution Française

It says « Placer ici les profils de personnes ayant joué un rôle pendant cette   période » ("Put here profiles of people who played a role during this period") so is appropriate for what you want, although not specific to political prisoners or people executed. There is no Restieaux in it sorry.

Hello. We don't have a specific category for what you are asking and the reason is we had no clue how  to name it. So we never got around to creating it. Besides, we'd only want profiles with  unimpeachable sources showing they belong in the category in there.

So far we've put people who were guillotined in the category "Révolution Française" until we found something better, which didn't happen, and so far the Révolution Française category is quite manageable. As for prisoners, as I'm sure you know, once they were called to stand trial they were almost certain of being convicted which meant a death sentence. So unless they were caught just before Robespierre's downfall their odds of surviving imprisonment were very small.

Bottom line: Jessica and Jim are both right.

In addition to Jim's answer, we also have Executed by guillotine (not specific to the French Révolution, given it was the execution method of choice in France until death penalty was abolished in 1981 and a few other countries also used it in different eras)

I'm going to delete the "Executed by Guillotine" category. It was created without communication whatsoever by the same person who has been going around chasing profiles to put in it, even including a murder victim in the process.

There is already a "Beheaded" category for profile managers who enjoy that sort of categorization (I would never tolerate it on a profile I manage or a profile managed by the France project).

For the French Revolution, I just created Victimes de la Terreur (Révolution Française) which works for all victims, including those who were shot, drowned or whatever, lots of things happened during the Reign of Terror.
