Is it possible to add languages other than those listed? In my case Afrikaans is the main language for most of my family.

Hi Caro. It is not possible for WikiTree to do this, because the languages available are provided from FamilySearch, not locally here.

The language setting only affects the way location name suggestions appear. It does not represent the language spoken by the person represented by the profile. See

Afrikaans would be a good language to add. With some ancestry in the Netherlands from the 17th century I would not be surprised to find connections.

I believe we have quite an active South African community on Wikitree, Afrikaans should definitely be considered

Caro

The only option available for Afrikaans is other  in the dropdown menu

Please ignore the placename provided by familysearch and feel free to add the locations in Afrikaans

These placenames will not generate an error message so you are good to go

I myself would love to see Afrikaans added We are a huge group of members working on Afrikaans profiles
