Help us find and improve next week's Connection Finder profiles: Women of Rock [closed]

Tina Turner's recent passing has inspired us to think about our connections to her and other women of rock 'n' roll. We're featuring Tina in the Connection Finder next week. Who else comes to mind when you think of women rockers?

Here's who we're getting started on:

Who else should we feature? We have room for eleven notables. We can't feature everyone who is nominated, but if we don't feature a profile you work on, we may use it sometime in the future. And, of course, all contributions help improve our shared tree.

Our choice of features will depend partly on the notable person's CC7, i.e. their connection count within seven degrees. The more connections they have, the more likely it is for all WikiTree members to find a close and interesting connection to them. So, if you nominate someone, please help grow their CC7.

We'll make a final decision on which ones to feature early next week.

Please reply here with what you're working on so that we don't duplicate our efforts. Thank you!

Take note that this is not the place to discuss why you think we shouldn't feature someone if those reasons are due to politics, actions, or opinions of those being suggested.  Mentioning things like their not being connected, their biography still needing work, erroneous information, etc. are all suitable for discussion here and an opportunity to correct those situations.

Help us plan Connection Finder themes for 2023 here.

Joan Jett's profile was updated to add a public domain image and to remove images which lacked documentation.
Thanks, Russell.

I have to say Pat Benatar. She was overlooked for so long by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (She didn't get inducted until last year!)

I second Pat Benatar! Got to see her in concert in 2017 (it was a dual concert with Rick Springfield at our Zoo's amphitheater, and she still had it! She was fabulous!
Thanks, Amy.

Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac (as well as a Solo Artist) would be a cool choice. 2 Grammys with an incredible 14 overall nominations. Her albums have topped Rolling Stone & Billboard's all time Greatest Lists.

Two thumbs up for Joan Jett. Glad she's already considered in this crowd.

My first thought was Lita Ford, but sadly, she has no profile. She's one of the hardest rockers I know.

I saw Stevie Nicks and Chrissie Hynde mentioned. Two thumbs up for them as well. Also glad someone mentioned Pat Benatar. Grace Slick (already mentioned) is another great choice.

Another without a profile (or at least I couldn't find one) would be B-52 singer Kate Pierson. And yet another without a profile appears to be Siouxie Sioux of Siouxie and the Banshees.

I love this category! Here are my suggestions.

Big Mama Thornton. Elvis may have had a bigger hit with Hound Dog but Thornton did it first. Willie Mae Thornton (1926-1984)

Nina Simone Eunice Kathleen (Waymon) Simone (1933-2003)

I believe this is Suzi Quatro. 36412546 Locked profile

Laura Nyro Laura (Nigro) Bianchini (1947-1997)

Melissa Etheridge Melissa Etheridge

Tori Amos Tori Amos

P!nk Pink Moore

Since someone posted Cass Elliot (no shade here, she had a beautiful voice) I felt Karen Carpenter should be added. Karen Anne Carpenter (1950-1983)

And so my list wasn’t completely American…….

Andrea Corr Andrea Corr
by Donna Lancaster G2G6 Mach 9 (91.8k points)
Since you threw out Big Mamma, what about Etta James. If we're going into the blues, we would be remiss to omit Susan Tedeschi. All three fit the R&R bill better than the pop and folk singers mentioned.
I actually thought about both of them, too.  Great suggestions in my opinion.
Great minds. I wouldn't be surprised if we are cousins.
Hahaha, I bet we are.
9c1r!
Well, nice to meet ya, cuz!!
Thanks, Donna and K.
