I have had help previously with research into  my Camborne Rowe ancestry and grateful for that - I have James' birth certificate which indicates George and Joanna as his parents. If this is the right George then he went on to marry a widow Mary-Ann Pearce (Davey). George and James, Mary-Ann and  her 4 children all came to New Zealand on board the Derwenter.  It is likely George's parents were George and Ann (Treadea) but I cannot find evidence. It has been suggested George and Grace (Edwards but the dates don't match). There are no records in NZ of their arrival here but have evidence they lived in Dunedin/Lawrence/Timaru.  There is a George and William with the same parents.  Thank you

Hi

I've used Sourcer to put the Freecen site census for 1851 and 1861 onto the profile, looking at the household tables shows George age 36 and Joanna with sons including William age 6 in 1851, in 1861 George age 46, sons William age 16, and James age 9, head of household is George snr and his wife Grace. All males other than James are smiths.

Census dates/ages aren't always accurate, but both census looked at together show a family group.

I found the older G2G post, which has 1861 census with George a blacksmith, age 40, which gives a birth year of 1821, which is too young

Hi Mary,

I’ve searched through the Cornwall Online Parish Clerks Database (OPC) https://www.opc-cornwall.org/ I found William Pearce marriage to Marianne Davey 6 Aug 1844 in Camborne.

You have George and Joanna’s marriage from the OPC.

I have found James’ birth registration Jan - Mar 1852 in the Redruth District mothers maiden name Allen, Volume 5C page 310. (You will know there is no location Crane, Cornwall  probably Camborne).

George married Mary Ann Pearse between Oct - Dec 1855 in the Redruth District Volume 5C page 464.

No details found on Joanna (Allen) Rowe death.

Please message me if there’s any other facts you need researching.

Malc.

Thank you Malc that confirms what I have and helpful to know that Crane is probably Redruth, Cornwall.  I am now  trying to find the parents of George Rowe, the father of James - possibly George & Ann (Treadea) - George and Grace (Edwards) were previously suggested but the ages do not match.  I appreciate your time and thank you.
