Looking for parents of Margaret Crittendon Douglass

Was Mrs. Margaret Crittendon Douglass born Crittendon, or Douglass? I looked for names of slave holders in VA and SC, and did not find either name listed as slave holder. Every search brings up her story of teaching slaves and freed slaves to read.

Paula, does she have a profile here on WikiTree?

I had to google her. What a fascinating slice of history.

This appears to be her with daughter Hannah in Norfolk, Virginia in 1850; it suggests that her married name was Douglass.

"United States Census, 1850," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-XC3Q-2YN?cc=1401638&wc=95RC-BZF%3A1031351901%2C1032801201%2C1032801202 : 9 April 2016), Virginia > Norfolk > Norfolk county, part of > image 113 of 240; citing NARA microfilm publication M432 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.).

Yes, she does. GJNT-PLF. it is the 1850 census, living with daughter, no husband. There’s not been any hints on her. Somewhere I read she was born in Washington DC, in 1822. I’ve seen the name Harvey Crittenden, but no helpful information.
