I recently found this record for Henry, and I can not make out his birthplace, I see he was from Prussia. Could anyone help with this?

Here is the link to the document

Thank you in advance

I don't have any places to nominate... But it's useful for you to be aware that much of "Germany" was under Prussian control (and therefore was called "Prussia") at the time of his emigration. Therefore, don't limit your search to places we now think of as Prussia.

I wonder if it could be a misspelling of this place: Barnhausen, Halle, Minden, Westfalen, Preussen

I did a search at Meyers Gazetteer using a wildcard, and this was the only place close in Prussia that came up.

I read this as Barnhave. The JewishGen gazetteer is my go to site for such places. With phonetic matching there are many results. The most promising is a small place called Bernöwe, 52°49' N 13°20' E, 20.8 miles N of Berlin. This would have been within Prussia in 1856. There are also numerous places now in Germany called Bernau or Bärnau which would be possibilities if the place is read Barnhaue

Good suggestion Andrew. I read Barnhave as well. I also used Meyers Gazetteer and my best guess was Bärnhöhe, Kemnath, Oberpfalz, Bayern
Andrew, Thanks for the info!! My next question how could I find the parish the the villagers belonged to? Those places you mentioned didn't turn up anything on familysearch.org :(
TIm, I'm afraid I don't know how to find the parish, as I am not usually looking for parochial records.

This could also be a misspelling of "Barmen" since "Barmham" might be what the scribe understood phonetically. As I just looked up a phone book, Gotthardt is nowadays a quite common name there. Barmen is part of the city of Wuppertal since 1929, zip 42103–42399 for reference. Weak theory, but maybe valid ;-)
