I found a duplicate profile for Louwrens/Louwerens Winne and have intiated a merge. His parents Pieter Winne and Annatje Merkle have duplicates as well. Should the parents be merged before the child?

Hi Linda,

No it's not particularly important to merge the parents before the children. It's most important to merge into the lowest number (and correct spelling). Looks like they all have suggested merges which is great.

Please reach out if you have any additional questions.

I agree that it's not particularly important which profiles get merged first, but it's typically recommended to start from oldest and work toward youngest family members.  Doing it in this order can make it easier to keep track of everything while getting the profiles cleaned up and making sure "ghosts" (duplicate children who have already been merged) are removed.
One more thing, to add to what Gsil said, all merges, including other siblings, spouse's, etc should all be proposed at same time, so the merges of the family are not spread out.
