I would like to join and participate in the Central Appalachian team please!  All of my mother's and father's ancestors are all from that region since at least the early 1800's.  Thanks!

My father's ancestors were some of the founding settlers in Summers County, West Virginia.  Col James Graham of Lowell, WV.  Isaac Ballengee, whose sons sold land to John Hinton, who developed Hinton, WV, now County Seat of Summers County.

My family tree includes people from all five regions of Appalachia, and I have lived in the South Central and Southern regions. I would like to join the Appalachia Project and belong to those two teams.

Sandy, I made a mistake. The Appalachia Project that I would like to join is the North Central not the Central. So could you make the change? Thanks.

Absolutely!  Super easy fix. I will make the change tomorrow. smiley

(BTW, North Central is my favorite part of Appalachia).

Come join us in Discord (link above). We are having fun with the 100 Days of Appalachia in our chat!

I'd like to join the Central team. I had 5 generations of Stepp's on the Tug, starting with Moses Stepp b.1763, a notable Revolutionary War Soldier and Indian Fighter. He was on the Tug by the 1820's then there were 4 more generations of Stepp grandfather's that lived in that area.

I am a descendent of the original settlers of Catawba County, North Carolina, which split off Lincoln County. That would be “South Central”.  I have all my information in other genealogy platforms so I’m gradually duplicating it on Wikitree.  I hope to continue to add to Appalachian history over time, including adding stories.

I also have ancestors from Pittsylvania County, Virginia, who came from Fauquier County, and an early settler of Jamestown.

And others from Grant (Hardy) County, West Virginia (which would be another sub-group).
