Lord John de la Pole (b. c. 1462; dvp. and sp. 16 Jun 1487) was the eldest son of John de la Pole, 2nd Duke of Suffolk. He was created. vp. 13 Mar 1466/7 Earl of Lincoln.[1] He was invested as a Knight of the Bath in 1475, President of the Council of the North 1484, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland 1484, and was declared by his uncle King Richard III to be the next heir to the Crown after his own issue 1485. He mar. Lady Margaret FitzAlan (dsp. after 1493), 1st dau. of Thomas [FitzAlan], 17th or 10th Earl of Arundel, by his wife Lady Margaret Wydville, sister of Queen Elizabeth Wydville and 2nd dau. of Richard [Wydville], 1st Earl Rivers.[2]
A Yorkist supporter of his uncle, he fought at the Battle of Bosworth 1485 and submitted to King Henry VII, fled to Flanders 1486 and supported the cause of Lambert Simnel, killed on 16 June 1487, he was slain at the Battle of Stoke Field by Henry VII's forces,[3][4] led by Owen, 2nd Baron of Ogle.[5]
