My father's ancestors, shrouded in mystery, immigrated to New York City from Łódź and surrounding towns at the turn of the 20th century. My mother's family, much better documented (although perhaps incorrectly), are the Holcombes who settled the town of Lambertville, NJ. Actively seeking ways to break through brick walls in my research.

Thanks for finishing the Pre-1700 questionnaire! In the message I left you below, It explains how it is required to have primary sources in place when the profile is created. Blogs and unsourced family trees are not acceptable sources for Pre-1700 profiles, like the one you answered question #5 in the questionnaire. Please review the Pre-1700 link below, and here is a link to the Pre-1700 sourcing help page that has sourcing guidelines to the various projects. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Reliable_Sources_for_Pre-1700_Profiles
The G2G forum is also a great place to ask for help or advice.
Thanks!

Sources are required on WikiTree. Reliable sources are required for all pre-1700 profiles. How do you know if a source is reliable? Here is a brief introduction to judging the reliability of genealogical source information with examples of reliable and unreliable sources.
Original or primary sources are the most reliable because they are recorded: at or near the time of an event, and by or with someone who has first-hand knowledge.
Examples: Birth Records, Church Records including birth, baptism, marriage, death, burial, confirmations, and recantations, Court Records, Land Records, Property Deeds, Tax Records, Military Records, Marriage Records and marriage contracts, Will and Estate/Probate Records and Inventories. Death and Burial Records.
Derivative or secondary sources are less reliable because every time a person transcribes, remembers, repeats, summarizes, or interprets information it introduces room for error.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
