Biography

Kim Myers has Irish ancestors.
  • Birth: Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick Maryland
  • Residence during my youth: 811 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick Maryland
  • My education: Brunswick High School - Graduated fromTowson State University - BS Mathematics - Attended John Hopkins University on the Westinghouse Awards Program
  • Served in the US Navy 1968 - 1972 as an electronic technician Second Class aboard the LPH-7 USS Guadalcanal
  • Career, Westinghouse: My career included 22 years at Westinghouse Defense Electronics in Baltimore where I started as an engineering aide and worked my way up through the engineering ranks as a design engineer and then was promoted to Test Manager, Manufacturing Program Manager, Division Materials Manager, and Program Manager. I worked on products as varied as the tv camera that was used on the Apollo moon missions, radar for the F4 and F16 fighter jets, radar for the Awacs early-warning airaircraft, and numerous air defense systems.
  • Career, Allied Signal: I joined Allied Signal Communications Division where I held positions as Quality Engineering Manager, Purchasing Manager, and Program Manager. I was involved in products as varied as the fuze for the Patriot Missile, and various communications and avionics products.
  • Career, Allied Signal Microelectronics facility in Columbia MD where I was Manager of Materiel and then Business Manager. There we produced complex integrated circuits for various electronic products.
  • Career, United Defense: After leaving Allied Signal, I took a position as Material Manager for United Defense at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg PA. At United Defense we manufactured the Paladin Howitzer for the Army.
  • Career, Universal Avionics: In 1996, I moved to Redmond Washington where I became General Manager of Universal Avionics Manufacturing division. During this period of my career I was responsible for building a 57,000 sq foot electronic manufacturing facility in Tucson Arizona.
  • Career, contract manufacturing: Since leaving Universal Avionics I have been a manager and a CEO of two contract manufacturing companies. I concluded my career as President of Applied Technical Services, a $70 million per year electronics manufacturing company in Bothell Washington. I was responsible for this facility as well as opening new manufacturing facility in Hermosillo Mexico in April of 2004.
  • Family: Widower of Debby Rice Myers, a son Keith and his wife Cherry living near Baltimore, a son Joshua "Josh" and a daughter Rebecca "Becky" and a son Ryan living in the Seattle WA area and a daughter Lacy Wisner living in Auburn WA.
  • Currently: I am retired and living in Frederick MD. I spend much of my time researching my ancestry. I hope to write two books related to my personal history and my ancestry. I am honored to have grown up in Brunswick MD and believe that the influences of Brunswick and my class mates of Brunswick schools have had a significant impact on who I am and the successes I have had in my life. I do miss those innocent years of my youth in Brunswick.
  • Genealogist: I have always loved family and spending time with family members. In the mid to late 90's my youngest son, Ryan, had an assignment to develop a four generation genealogy chart for school. This was the trigger that started my quest. From that time forward I have amassed a large library of genealogical reference material, travelled across the US and Ireland to visit and research in many libraries and archives. At this time I am spending most days in a quest to further improve references to past research and break through various brick walls. I also continue my education through various webinars, reading various genealogical journals, publications, and books and attending presentations and conferences.

Hi Kim, glad your interested in the US Civil War Project, noticed the stickers you have been putting on soldiers profiles are the Member Sticker, which only goes on alive badged members profiles. I corrected those you put the Member Sticker on, use this instead: US Civil War|side=USA surround that in {{ }} it will look like this:

Hi Kim,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources; find or merge duplicates; clean up GEDCOM or merged biographies; or interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi Kim,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are usually shared by many descendants, collaborating with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Review the project pages to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Pardon me for my stupidity. I was not sure how Wiki worked. Giles Brent is my 9th great grandfather. I have hooked up DNA up on here. But I usually use Ancestry. I am not sure about Wiki or really how to do it.

Hi Kim,

I would like to add the parents to your profile for Jane Downing (Downing-419). Her parents are John Downing (Downing-1656) and Mary "Polly" Boiler (Boiler-6). Here's a source connecting Jane to her parents: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F6F3-GHS. Could you either add me to her trusted list, or connect the parents yourself? -Cindy

Hello, Kim Myers...

I see that you are the profile manager for John Gosling-64. My family tree includes the Goslin family name and I am now working on this particular John Gosling to see if he fits into our family. I have several documents that help clear up family relationships. Would it be alright with you if I post them to this John Gosling's page?

Thanks... Teresa Fortenberry

I'd like to link members of the Mills family to their parents, Mills-3034 and Maddox-487. Since they died over 100 years ago I'm surprised their profiles are private. I'd also like to add children to Mills-3038. He died in 1923. Please consider making these profiles public or adding me to their trusted lists.

Yes, Tripp-486 and Tripp-78 do have significantly different birth dates. Tripp-486 is based on ancestry.com, not a source I trust. Tripp-78 has more reliable sources and agree with the Tripp Family Association, links below. Please reconsider merging them and using the Tripp-78 data.

I am looking for either Emely Puritt, who married Samuel Holland, but died abt 1871, after the birth of their daughter, Victoria. Or Nancy J Pruitt, who married William Holland in 1875. I have heard that William's father was Rufus Holland...not sure if that's true.
