Biography

Kate, daughter of Sanford McFerrin & Ivie May Smith, was born on 21 July 1910 in Springfield, Robertson County, Tennessee, and she died on 2 January 1963 in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas.^[1] She married Robert V Ogden on 11 September 1928 in Maud, Oklahoma.^[2]

Kate moved with her family from Springfield, Tennessee to Maud, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma in 1919.^[3] In the 1920 census Kate (age 9) was the daughter of Sanford McFerrin in Maud, Oklahoma.^[4]

Kate, having attained a degree in cosmetology, worked for about six months as the manager of a beauty shop in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, before returning to Maud in 1927 to open a beauty parlor in her home town.^[5] It was while she was working in Beaumont that she met Robert Ogden, whom she would marry in Maud on 11 September 1928.^[2]

In the 1930 census Kate (age 19) was the wife of Robert V Ogden at 225 Threadneedle St, Beaumont, Jefferson, Texas, United States.^[6]

In the 1940 census Kate (age 29) was the wife of Robert V Ogden in Beaumont, Jefferson, Texas.^[7]

In 1946, Kate and Robert moved from Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas to Winnie, Chambers County, Texas,^[8] where Robert joined in business with his father and brother, doing business as L.G. Ogden and Sons.

In the 1950 census Kate (age 39) was the wife of Robert V Ogden in Winnie, Chambers, Texas, United States.^[9]

Kate remained a resident of Winnie until her death in a Beaumont hospital on 2 January 1963 (age 52).^[1] She was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont where she is at rest beside her loving husband, Robert.^[10]
