I've been researching ancestors and working on my genealogy since back in the 80's when my great-grandmother gave me a copy of her Wilson-White Family Genealogy, including Willoughby's with her 15 children, grandchildren, great & great-great-grandchildren.

I love hear from cousins... of any degree, and finding our common ancestors.

Biography

I was born in East Chicago, IN, raised in Hammond, lived in Valparaiso where I met my first husband, Dale Carlin Lamberson. We had four children; Jeremi- 4/81, Stefanie-4/82, Dustin-6/85, & Duncan-2/88. Dale & I divorced. After living the single life almost 12 years I married my best friend, Scott M Poston, Jr. I have an older half-sister, Linda, by my father's first marriage. Linda was born with cerebral palsy & was adopted by my grandparents; therefore making her legally my aunt. I had an older brother, Billy Dee Long, who has passed. I am "A" twin with Barbi Dee as my 'B' twin. We have two younger sister's; Bonnie Dee Long & Brenda Lee Dee Long. My father loved his grandfather who went by his middle name, "Dee".

I have been into genealogy since my great-grandmother, Ethel Frances Wilson Willoughby, sent a copy of her first family history book, written in 1972-73, which included her fifteen children, their children, & great-grandchildren.. I also have a 2004 edition updated by the youngest child, Erlene Joy Willoughby Hawkins, my grand-aunt, the youngest of the fifteen & last surviving passing away 7/2018.

I also have a copy of the 'Taylor-Dobson Family History' book 1964 updated edition by my dad's cousin. It was originally written in 1904 by Eli Taylor Dobson & his sister Ellen Dobson Horr.
Bobbie Long is a descendant of Mayflower Passenger William Brewster & Wife Mary & Son Love.

hi Bobby. I apologize. I see a message that I put on your board but it seems to have been just a partial message. I'm not sure how you were supposed to know what I was talking about, so I deleted it and we'll start from the beginning.

I'm in the midst of transferring two large trees for me and my husband here from Ancestry.com. I created a bunch of files without realizing I was duplicating work already done. Also I wasn't used to how different tabs appear while creating profiles for relatives. I was (am) very confused - and the consequence was a million profiles that now need to be merged. I'm not on Laverne's trusted list and can't merge the files for William Gillespie and Mary Clendennin (Gillespie-399 and Clendennin-3) so i went as far as I could in creating unmerged files.

Part of the confusion is that I come in through Nancy (Gillespie) Owens (which was brought into William and Mary's family through a 2011/2012 gedcom file from Ancestry.com and she really doesn't belong there. I don't believe Mary Clendennin is right either, but frankly, that may not be my worry if she's not really Nancy Owens mother. Nancy and Robert Owens are one of the original settlers in Clearfield County Pennsylvania and there is no obvious connection, either through public records or just plain common sense for her to be part of the Shenandoah Valley history. William and Mary had a lot of children so it was easy to hide Nancy there though why anybody would do that is a complete mystery. Probably its best to assume she was some mistake in the first place when these "build your own genealogy sites" opened up before public records became so readily available. I think its best to remove her from that family until we get more hard evidence that that's where she belongs.

So maybe you can help me complete the merges I started if you're on their Trusted list and let's just remove Nancy Owens Gillespi from their family until some time we can be sure its appropriate. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bobbie,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

It looks like US History would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Adding the tag United_States_History will help you get updates about activity for that project.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

PS If you get a "Page Not Found" error when clicking WikiTree email links, you can often find a working version in the public comments on your profile.

PPS Did you discover that the tags on your profile are clickable links? Each takes you to a page of other people who have that tag and WikiTree links which might be helpful.
