BIRTH
George Brown was born the 3rd December 1787 at Raymond, Cumberland County, Maine (a Province of Massachusetts Bay) the sone of Jesse Brown, Jr. and wife Elsy (Strout) Brown. ^[1] In his birth record he is recorded as being the first child born to his parents.

RESIDENCY
George Brown is found in the 1830 U.S. Federal Census as residing in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine with a total family household of five which includes a break-down of:

2 individuals between the ages of 20-49 years ; three individuals under the age of 20 years one being a female between 15-19 years and the other two being males between the ages of 10-14 years.

In the 1850 U.S. Federal Census George Brown, age sixty-two years and wife Elizabeth H. Brown, age sixty years, are residing in Ward 2, Portland, Cumberland, Maine. His occupation is noted as being a "Stevedore in the Water Transportation industry". ^[2]
