Biography
Hugh was the son of Hugh Boyd and Susanna Lockhart.
Hugh emigrated to America about 1870 and settled in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. He operated as a Grocer.
Hugh Boyd had two marriages. His first to Jane/Julia Brisland ? about 1872. Known children born to Hugh and Jane were Richard, Aaron, Harry M and Hugh R. Living with them at the time of the 1880 Census is Bella Boyd aged 19 from Ireland. Perhaps Hugh's sister ? [1]
He was widowed about 1887.
Hugh secondly married Elizabeth Sanders on 26 May 1892. [2]
In the 1900 Census, Hugh is recorded as having been married eight years. Four children have been born in his marriage to Elizabeth, three are living, Frank Sanders, Welsh Sproule? and a daughter Jane.
In the 1910 Census, his nephew Hugh C Boyd is living with the family having arrived from Ireland in 1905.
Hugh Lockhart Boyd died in 1946 aged 93 and is buried at Allegheny Cemetery Pittsburgh, Allegheny County. [3]
