• Scot's Peerage is not definitive about Robert, son of the Earl.^[5]
  • It states many families claim him as an ancestor, but nothing is known about him. One account mentions he was born Aug 1689 and married Margaret Thomson, but no records found to match that baptism date.
  • The Robert named as married to Margaret Thomson in 1714 is apparently named as a glover and not the son of an Earl, with no reference to him being as Honourable or the son of the Earl.
