Hi All

This summers little mini-project was to add the names of those killed during the 2011 Earthquake to the New Zealand Disaster records and then I forgot to ask (around the anniversary) for support in developing links outwards, by those Wikitreers from NZ & beyond, who may have a personal connection or addition info to add to those profiles.

If you just want a look over or fell you can add to what we already have please feel free

Great work Graeme. I have added a few maiden names that I could find in newspaper articles.
Thanks Paula that is exactly what I was after

Hi Graeme,

I don't have a personal connection to the victims, but that is my home town and I left the year before the first one hit. I'm heading there in a few months, so unless you get something sooner, will snap a few photos of the memorial wall etc for the project.  I don't have a lot of time there, or I'd get the headstone images for you.

This is a momentous effort.

Kind regards,
Raewyn.

My cousin has 4 sons. One of those sons who was working in one of the buildings that collapsed - the Pyne Gould building that went down like a pancake. Fortunately the cousins son got out safely, but things could have been different....

Has it been 9 years already?

And Christchurch still has not been repaired, The cathedral spire will never be repaired...

That's an amazing job you have done considering how many of the victims were foreigners. As far as I know, no one that I knew died although plenty of them were affected.

Excellent work, Graeme. On that day, we had a bus load of Kaikoura students in Christchurch on a history trip, my son included. They were driving along Riccarton Road. One of the teachers, a territorial, pulled people out from collapsed verandas. It was a long day waiting for the kids to get home. My doctor, also in Christchurch that day, helped at the PGG building - then in the Kaikoura quake. So many New Zealanders are linked to this disaster. Thanks for honouring them.
