Thank you soo much for the lead on this child in the portrait that I have. Although if she didn't live to see her first birthday, why does she look older ( 3or 4 yrs) in the fine portrait I own. I'm trying to find her ancestors alive today to show them this painting. I cannot find her grave either. Her father was Ethan A.Paddock and mother was Caroline A.Paddock. She passed on 9/11/1884. I need to know more! The artist is unknown but the painting is exquisite in detail with a haunting expression. Anyone know more? I need need to find her family and share that she did exist.

Perhaps a second child with the same name? Sometimes parents did that if the first baby died. I'll look.

Thank you for the speedy response but this child did exist and her name was Caroline Cordelia Paddock. I was sent the census above which validates her birth and death and parents. I just need to find the right Paddock family to contact so that they can see this portrait by an unknown artist.
