I can see my grandmothers profile but I can't link to it as I was not the trusted creator

This is a general question, I have just joined and when I went to add my mother's mother it came up for a match that is my grandmother but when I click that match it says I can't add it to my tree as I am not a trusted member. I don't want to go and make a whole new profile for grandma when she is already here

If you upgrade your membership (free) and sign the Honor Code, you will be able to do (edit) more things.
In the meanwhile, you can contact the person currently managing your grandmother's profile and ask them to add you to the Trusted List (there should be a link for that on grandma's profile).

Can you see an option at the top of the profile for Jessie Kirkness that says edit?

If you can you should be able to either add your mothers profile ID as a child to her or copy your grandmothers ID (Comrie-94) and add it as a mother on your mothers edit screen. Looking at Help:Membership you should be able to do this. Note that no one else will be able to add your mother due to her being unlisted (as I assume she is still alive). Only those on a trusted list will be able to do that.

As Melanie pointed out, once Bridget signs the honor code, she should be able to connect her mother's profile to her grandmother's profile.
It does seem weird that people can not connect to existing profiles of their close family.

I do have no experience of what limits a Family Member membership has on it.
Thanks, this worked once I signed the honor code
Great Bridget. Within a day you will start to see things like connections to Notables and other Wikitreers and loads of cool tools will work better.

One thing is a CC7 count which tells you how many profiles are connected to you within 7 steps. It can help focus where might need work but it isn't just your direct family. Marriage counts as a connection way as well.

Another is the connection to a group of themed Notables. The current one is National Park champions. If you look at the bottom of your grandmother's profile you can see the list.once the system catches up it will show on your profile too.

Enjoy Wikitree and feel free to ask questions as we are a great bunch of people l.
