Fujita Fumiaki was born in Japan in 1924. He romanised his name in the kunrei-shiki method, thus his name is properly Humiaki Huzita, used in the Western order of names. He attended the University of Padua to learn nuclear physics. In 1989, he hosted the first International meeting of Origami Science and Technology. Humiaki is known for rediscovering 1 to 6 Huzita-Hatori axioms in terms of paper folding in 1991. He died on 26 March 2005.
