1st Lieutenant Henry Zwicker was Killed in Action when the B-24 bomber he was a Bombardier on was shot down on a mission to Wiener-Neustadt, Austria during World War II.
Henry was born 12 April 1918 in Pendleton, Oregon. He was the son of Henry Otto Zwicker and Ethyl Louise Burnett.[1]
Henry was the bombardier of the B-24 Liberator bomber, Earthquake McGoon - 41-24235-C, participating in Operation Tidal Wave the low-level attack on the Romanian oil refineries at Ploesti on 1 August 1943. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for the mission.
Henry was Killed in Action on 1 October 1943 when the B-24 Liberator Bomber, ‘Count BRUGA’ (#42-72853 ) was shot down by enemy aircraft on a mission to Weiner Neustadt. Henry was the plane’s Bombardier.[2]
