Biography

Darryl Zanuck is Notable.

An American film producer and studio executive. Early on in his career he wrote for Warner Bros., before co-founding what is now 20th Century Fox in 1933. He closely involved himself in scripts, film editing, and producing.

He was nominated for an Academy Award on 15 different occasions, and won 3 times for Best Picture -- first in 1941 for "How Green Was My Valley", then in 1948 for "Gentleman's Agreement" and finally in 1950 for "All About Eve" and in 1960, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to the motion picture industry.

Darryl was born September 5, 1902 in Wahoo, Saunders county, Nebraska, USA. He is the son of Francis Zanuck and Louise Torpin.

He married Virginia Fox on January 1924 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. He was 23, a native of Nebraska and she was 20 and a native of West Virginia. Witnesses were Fred L. Fox and Frederick C. Fox, both residents of Los Angeles.^[1]

They separated about 1957 but reunited in 1972 and spent their remaining years together.

Zanuck died at the age of 77 on December 22, 1979 in Palm Springs, Riverside county, California and was buried in Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles, Los Angeles county. ^[2][3]
