Biography

Anna Emilie Zabel was born in 1872 in Queensland. She is the daughter of Ludwig Zabel and Friedericke Popp. ^[1]

Annie married Albert Boughen in Queensland in 1893. ^[2]

• William Boughen (1896–1985)
• Rose Anna Boughen (1908–1916)

She died in 1948 ^[3] and is buried in Coolana Lutheran Cemetery, Coolana, Somerset Region, Queensland ^[4]

Obituary MRS. A BOUGHEN, MINDEN, August 24.^[5]— The death occurred recently of an old identity of the Minden district, Mrs. Annie Boughen, wife of Mr. Albert Boughen, sen. Eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Zabel she was born at Eagle Farm (Brisbane) on June 17, 1872. When only a couple of years old, she came to Minden with her parents, who were pioneers of the district. On January 27 1893, she was married to Mr A. Boughen who was engaged in farming at Coolana, then known as Hillside. Later they moved to a farm in Minden where they resided until her death. Eleven children were born to the couple. Two daughters and one son pre-deceased their mother. She leaves her aged husband, four sons, Messrs. Oscar (Coolana), Albert (Rosewood), William and Norman Boughen (both of Minden), four daughters, Mesdames A. Haak (Brightview), G. Hasted (Lowood), C. Hutton (Brisbane), and Sister Amy Boughen (Brisbane), 32 grand children and one great-grandchild. There also are four brothers and four sisters. The late Mrs. Boughen was an ardent member of the Coolana Lutheran Church. Her funeral left the church for the church cemetery. Rev. R. T. Rodhe officiated at the church and at the graveside. The Minden Brass Band, of which one of her sons is a member, formed a guard of honour and at the graveside played "Abide With Me."
