James was born about 1923. He was the son of Arnold Yates and Frieda Dinger. He passed away about 2003. ^[1]

James A. "Son" Yates Jr., 78, Brookville, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at his daughter's home in Ambridge. He was born July 27, 1927, in Brookville, a son of the late James A. and Frieda L. (Dinger) Yates. Nov. 20, 1947, he married Anna L. (Geer) Yates, who preceded him in death June 4, 2000.

Mr. Yates was a graduate of Brookville High School and Technical Electricians' School in Chicago, Ill. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Yates retired as a master electrician from Rockwell International, DuBois. He attended the Coolspring United Methodist Church, was a member of F.O.E. No. 983, Brookville, and supported the Coolspring Power Museum. An avid outdoorsman, hunter and camper, Mr. Yates also enjoyed traveling.

Surviving relatives include two sons, two daughters, a sister, two brothers, a sister-in-law, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald Seth Schuckers; a brother, Carl E. Yates; an infant brother; and a brother-in-law, William Miller. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at the funeral home with the Rev. James Markley officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Knoxdale. ^[2]Memorial donations may be made to the Coolspring United Methodist Church, Coolspring, Pa. 15730.^[3]
