Tracing Sweeney and Donovan families Ireland. John Sweeney born circa 1839 in Swineford county Mayo,married in April 1874 in Fermoy cork to Mary Donovan,father is listed as John Donovan Gardiner. John's father Patrick Sweeney Labourer. John was in the British army serving in Ireland when he married, his and family had moved over to England before 1854 as his brother James was born in 1880 in Haslingden. John and Mary had one daughter Bridget in Ireland 1875 Dublin died 1875, I believe John still in the army served some time in Cork harbour fort. John was then posted to India, his son John was born 3rd June 1876 in Kamptee India, Mary daughter born 1878 at sea registed in Haslingden. I cannot find what happened to Patrick sweeney or john donovan or who John and Mary's mothers where.
