Srilda (Yates) Madewell was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

Srilda Azaline Yates was born on October 5, 1887 in Van Buren, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Bryant Yates (1860–1926) and Mary Emma Simmons (1870–1925).

Srilda married James William Madewell (born on June 22, 1882 in Bledsoe, Tennessee; son of Charles Harris Madewell and Mary Catherine (McManus) Madewell). ^[1]

In the 1900 census Sirilda (age 10) was the daughter of Bryant Gales in Civil District 5, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.^[2] Bryant Gales 49, wife Mary Gales 30, daughter Martha Gales 21, son Larkin Gales 19, daughter Mary Gales 13, daughter Malinda A Gales 11, daughter Sirilda Gales 10, son James Gales 6, daughter Lona Gales 4, daughter Lucinda Gales 2.

In the 1920 census Sarildy (age 28) was the wife of Jim W Madewell in Civil District 7, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.^[3] Jim W Madewell 37 years, wife Sarildy Madewell 28 years, son Clarence Madewell 8 years, son Bransford Madewell 7 years, daughter Mary K Madewell 5 years, son Clyde Madewell 3 years 2 months, son Elbert Madewell 1 years 1 months.

Srilda died on November 19, 1926 in Van Buren, aged 39. She was buried in Spencer Town Cemetery, Spencer, Tennessee.^[4]
