Jemima married James Beatty on 30 November 1835 in Wallasey, Cheshire, England.[1]
The daughter of a Methodist minister, Rev. Thomas Yates, she accompanied husband James with their two young children (Maria Moreau and Samuel James) on the maiden voyage of the missionary ship Triton from Bristol, England, in 1839 to Aukland, New Zealand.

The couple eventually settled in New South Wales, were Jemima passed away at age 54.
