In the 1940 census Frank (age 56) was the married head of household in Rocky River, Van Buren, Tennessee, United States.^[4] Frank Yates 56, wife Isabell Yates 54, daughter Lola Yates 25, son Jessie T Yates 18, daughter Laura Yates 12.

Frank died on November 18, 1942 in Van Buren, aged 58. He was buried in Yates Cemetery, Spencer, Tennessee. ^[5]
