Wymore, located in Gage County, Nebraska was founded 4/7/1881, from land donated by Sam Wymore to the C. B. & Q. Railroad to build a depot and repair shop. By 1892, the railroad shop consisted of a 20-stall roundhouse and machine shops and employed approximately 600 people. Wymore's railroad employment dropped sharply after 1920 as the diesel locomotive replaced the steam engine and the railroad's rip track gang was transferred to Lincoln. (5/15/23 removed bad link)
