Biography

Archibald Taylor Wyer was born in 1795 Virginia to George Wyer and Elizabeth Findlay. He married Elizabeth Rittenhouse, daughter of Isaac, 5 Jul 1815 in Harrison County, Virginia.^[1] Archibald and Elizabeth had at least five children: Cornelius, Elizabeth Ann, Sunna (m), Salats (f), and Alpheus.

1850 census record lists Archibald Wire 55, Elizabeth Wire 53, Sunna Wire 18, Salats Wire 13, Alpheus Wire 11, all living in District 21, Harrison, Virginia (Family number 365) and everyone in the family was born in Virginia.^[2]

Note: Regarding the names Sunna and Salats, the census record is quite legible. These are indeed the names the census taker wrote down, although, they are unusual and could be nicknames or just wrong. It is not a transcribing error though.
