Henrietta Augusta Worrell was born in 1827 in St Pancras, London, England. She was the daughter of John Worrell and Henrietta (Austin) Worrell.

She was christened in 1827 in St Pancras Old Church, Saint Pancras, London, England, United Kingdom. [1]

In 1848 Henrietta Augusta Worrell marries Junius Augustus Davies in Kensington, London, England. [2]

She arrived in Australia with her husband in 1852. [3] Her husband Junius died shortly after they arrived in Australia.

In 1853 Henrietta marries William Dugdale in Victoria, Australia. [4]

After more than 15 years of marriage, Henrietta separated from William Dugdale and moved to Camberwell. [8]

Henrietta initiated the first female suffrage society in Australia, [9] she began her campaign for "equal justice for women" in 1869. [10] She made her own clothes and grew her own vegetables. She did carpentry and was an excellent chess player. [11]

In 1883, she published her manifesto, ‘A Few Hours in a Far-Off Age.’ [12] In her book she reviews history from its patriarchal past to an imagined ideal future where women have equal power in political governance and freedom in how they run their lives. [13]

In 1903 Henrietta marries Frederick Johnson in Victoria, Australia. [14]

She passed away in 1918 in Point Lonsdale, Victoria, Australia. She was 91 years old. [15]

She is buried at the Queenscliff Cemetery Point Lonsdale, Greater Geelong City, Victoria, Australia. [16]

In 2013, she was nationally recognised as a first-wave Australian feminist, she was was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in 2001. [17]
