Polly Wootton is a part of US Black heritage.

Polly was born about 1792.

In the 1816 will of Richard Wootton, she and her (unnamed) children were to go to Richard's daughter Martha. ^[1]

The 1818 inventory of Richard's estate includes a slave named Polly, age 26.^[2]

• Her birth year is based on the assumption that she is the same Polly, age 26, named in the inventory of Richard Wootton's estate.
• Martha married a Wilson/Willson, so if Martha still held Polly in slavery after her marriage, it's possible that Polly or her children may have at some point used that surname.
