Mary "Polly" Wooldridge was born in 1772. She was probably the daughter of Richard Wooldridge and Jane Roberts, and was likely born in Washington County, Tennessee.
She is mentioned in the will of Richard Wooldridge Sr as his daughter.
The Kentucky Kinfolk Wooldridge link below suggests that there is a book or other document called, "John Wooldridge, Blacksmith," and that page 39 states that Mary married a Miller, and that page 47 states, "Wm. Wooldridge mss 11/99," which I take to mean something about William Wooldridge in November, 1799; perhaps this was the date of their betrothal?
The Kentucky Kin Folk source also lists Mary as the seventh child of Richard Wooldridge and Jane Roberts:
There is another note:
I believe this was probably the date of their marriage bond, and that the December 08, 1800 was the date of their actual wedding.
Because only heads of household were listed on the US census prior to 1850, we can only infer that Mary "Polly" is the oldest woman listed in William's household, as being in her 40s in 1830 and in her 50s in 1840. If her age is correct on this census, then she could not have been born until the 1780s, however, she was allegedly born in 1772, so I suspect two Wooldridge women named Mary have been conflated, or else Polly simply lied about her age, which seems especially likely due to her husband being over a decade younger than she was.
She was probably the Polly Miller at whose residence her granddaughter, Mary Ann "Polly" Miller, was married in 1854. Since the home was listed as, "Polly Miller's residence," this indicates that she may have been a widow, because otherwise, a man's name would have been listed as head of household; however, it's also possible that they meant the granddaughter Polly was being married at her own home, that being her uncle Philip Miller's residence.
No source has been found for Polly's death. Some trees have 1855, which is congruent with her namesake granddaughter being married in her home the year before her death. Other trees have 1846, which is congruent with the lack of a Mary or Polly Miller about the right age on the 1850 census; however, her husband William has not yet been found, either, and his death is recorded as having taken place in 1855. Perhaps they both died of an illness in 1855, or perhaps his death year has sometimes been confused with hers.
Regardless of the year, she almost certainly died in Russell County, Kentucky between 1840 and 1855.
