Hello,

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Hi!

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

Looking to make more connections or find more information about an ancestor but not sure how to do that? Try categorizing your profiles.

Not sure what to put into a biography? Here are some Bio Ideas. Also, make sure that the biographies match WikiTree’s Styles and Standards.

If you come across an unresponsive manager, we have a process for those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!!

Welcome Charles,

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.

Wow!!! You have exactly the same idea that I do - family records need to be free! I'm looking forward to reading about your ancestors.

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist. If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

See you in the branches --

Deborah Greeter from Georgia USA

Charles, just to let you know that we inadvertently told you that you have been confirmed as a full member, however as you have not checked the Volunteer Box we have not been able to confirm you just yet. I will be very happy to confirm you as a full member if you would like to check the Volunteer Box

Charles, I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. That's great! Here's a link to a great step-by-step overview of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The Help pages give lots of information about the process starting with: 'Before you import a GEDCOM.'

Find instructions here for reviewing your GEDMatch Report if you want to import it into WikiTree.

Charles, I see you have noted your DNA test. Did you know we have a project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.

Charles,

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. We are building one collaborative tree with just one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add profiles to WikiTree. If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add, please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

If you need any help, check out the Help section from the menu at top right, or visit the G2G forum and take a moment to introduce yourself in the Tree House. You might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

We have mentors to help, too.

Welcome!

Karen
