She was born on 26 Aug 1941 at Walters, Cotton County, Oklahoma, USA and was the daughter of Myrtle (Latham, 1913–1978) and Edgar J. Woods (1912–1977).

Obituary
Mary Ann Herring, 74, of Comanche, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, Jan. 9, 2106 at New Hope Baptist Church West with Rev. Jerry Couch officiating, and Rev. Randy Southerland assisting. Burial will follow at the Fairlawn Cemetery, in Comanche, OK. Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan, Oklahoma.
The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Friday, Jan. 8th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Mary was born Aug. 26,1941, in Walters, Oklahoma to Edgar J. Woods and Myrtle (Latham) Woods.
Mary graduated from Cameron University earning her Bachelors Degree and later attending the University of Oklahoma earning her Masters Degree. She taught school in the Empire district, teaching math and later becoming the principal. Mary retired in 1995 after many wonderful years of teaching and administration career. After her retirement she was also active in overseeing an alternate school.
Mary and ... were blessed to be able to serve in many children's lives as foster parents. She loved all the children she came in contact with. Mary was blessed to have a special friendship with ... and a loyal 4-legged companion Boomer!!!
Mary and ... were married on June 13, 1959 in Duncan, near Beaver Creek.
She is survived by her husband ... Herring, of the home; children ... brothers ... grandchildren ... and great-granchildren ...
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Tony Herring; brother-in-law, Gene Garrison.
