In the 1850 census Sarah (age about 25) and her husband Francis (age 26) were living in Rockport, Essex, Massachusetts with Sarah's parents, George (age 50) and Sally (age 45). [5]
Sarah (age 30) and her husband Francis (age 32) are living with George and Sally Witham in Rockport in the 1855 census. Also included in the household is Francis' brother Levi Tarr and his wife Mary and daughter Marietta. [6]
On 25 December 1855, the second daughter of Sarah and Francis was born. She was named Sarah F. Tarr. [7]
In 1856, the family suffered three deaths. Sarah Ann's grandmother, Hannah Butman (1775-1856), died in February. Sarah Ann Witham Tarr died on 5 April 1856, of anemia, at age 30, in Rockport, Massachusetts. [8] Her daughter Sarah died at age 8 months, from "atrophy from weaning" on 20 August 1856, in Rockport, Massachusetts. [9]
