Biography

Elizabeth (Winters) Mapplebeck has Irish ancestors.

Elizabeth was born on 12 November 1861 in Tonawanda, Erie County, New York.[1]

By the mid 1860s, Elizabeth and her family lived at 247 S. Jefferson, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.[2][3][4] Her family was probably affected by the Great Chicago Fire; S. Jefferson was at the edge of the burnt district.[5]

Elizabeth's first husband was James Graham. By 1881, they were living in Hochelaga Village, Hochelaga, Quebec, Canada with their daughter.[6]

Elizabeth married her second husband James Mapplebeck on 20 November 1885 at St. Mary's Church in Hochelaga, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.[7]

Elizabeth and her family moved to Alton, Madison County, Illinois, and Elizabeth headed the household after her husband left.[8]

Elizabeth attended the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.[9]

She moved to St. Louis, Missouri in October 1905.[10] She ran a boarding house there.[11]

On 2 March 1942, a fire broke out at the Brantwood Nursing Home in Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, and Elizabeth was one of the patients who was taken to City Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.[12] She died at City Hospital on 4 March 1942 .[13]
