Biography

Charles was born in 1859. He passed away in 1929.

Charles Henry “Charley” Wilson Born: June 11, 1859, in Macon County, Alabama and died: November 7, 1929, at Sidon, White, Arkansas. He was the son of Henry Wilson (1828-1877) and Matilda (unknown) (1830-after 1878).

Charles married Ellen (Ella) Claton Hufham November 12, 1878, in Alabama. She was born in 1862 in Alabama, the daughter of James Washington Hufham (1834-1880) and Francis E. Barnett (1841-?). She died circa 1895 in White County, Arkansas. According to Annie Bennett, daughter of Ella and Charlie, Ella’s grave is in the Bethesda Cemetery (Rosebud) in White County in a suspected unmarked grave. The family has searched but was unable to find any marker.

Charles moved his family to Arkansas in the early 1890’s to the western portion of White County where Ella died in 1895 and Charlie would remarry to Alice Wright on January 1, 1896.

Alice was born December 17, 1868, the daughter of James Henry Wright (1836-1903) of Tennessee and Rachael Rebecca McDougal (1833-1911) of Mississippi. Charles passed away on November 7, 1929 in the Sidon community in the western part of White County, Arkansas. Alice eventually died March 2, 1955 and is buried with Charles in the Sidon Cemetery.
