Louis Hugh Wilson Jr. was United States Marine Corps four-star general and a World War II recipient of the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Guam. He served as the 26th commandant of the Marine Corps from 1975 until his retirement from the Marine Corps in 1979, after 38 years of service.
General Louis H. Wilson Jr. (whom earned America's most distinguished honors for valor[1]) was born in Mississippi to Louis and Bertha Buchanan Wilson.[2]
He died in 2005 and was interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Section 7A, Grave 103-B.[3][2]

26th Commandant of the US Marine Corps
Joined the Marine Corps Reserve prior to the start of WWII. Awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism in combat which commanding a company of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division.
During Korea, he served as Assistant G-3 in the 1st Marine Division.
During Vietnam he was Assistant Chief of Staff G-3 with the 1st Marine Division and was awarded the first of three Legion of Merit and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
In 1975 he was promoted to 4 star General
He was the first Marine Commandant to serve full-time on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
