Biography

Janet or Jessie Wilson was born in 1854. But the large number of people with similar names makes positive identification difficult.

The 1861 Canada census said her place of birth was Upper Canada; the 1891 census said the place of birth was Canada West. Those were earlier names for Ontario.

She married Daniel White in November 1873. The marriage record showed her name as "Jessee Wilson", her father Daniel Wilson and her mother "Jessee Wilson", maiden name not shown.

A son, Robert Mercer White, was born in Percy Township, Ontario in 1875. The family was listed in the 1891 & 1901 Canada censuses at Percy Township. A record of another son calls his mother "Sarah Jane White", so her original surname remains uncertain.

She died in 1937 and was buried at Warkworth, Ontario.
