Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Mariah Wilson is a part of US Black heritage.
Mariah Wilson was a South Carolinian.

Mariah lived in Anderson County, South Carolina and was enslaved by Hugh Wilson who died in 1863. Mariah was named in the will, bequeathed to the widow Elizabeth Wilson. Mariah was married to Harry Wilson.[1] In the Wilson probate inventory Mariah was valued at $1500, and husband Harry was valued at $2000.[2]

Children:

  • Henry Wilson[3]

In 1870 Harry was identified on the census as Henry by mistake. He was age 62, with wife Mariah age 50.[4]

Harry was most likely deceased by 1880 as the widow Mariah was listed on the census at that time with her son Henry.[3] Mariah died sometime after that.
