George Michael WILLIS was born in 1911 in Benalla, Victoria, Australia^[1]. He was the son of Thomas Willis and Sarah Butler.

BALLARAT. Wednesday. —First Constable George Michael Willis, of Linton, died, aged 38 at the Police Hospital after a long Illness.

In 1941 he was awarded a Royal Humane Society bronze medal for gallantry In rescuing a small boy from a disused mine shaft near Russell Street, Ballarat West

At one time he was a successful runner and finished third in the Stawell Gift In 1938.

He leaves a widow and four young children.
