Biography

It is estimated that Anna Maria was born in about 1736. Her parents are not yet confirmed but it is possible they could be Thomas Willems) and Neaima (Unknown) Willems - See Research notes below.

According to an Index of Philadelphia marriages, Anna married Nicholas Keppel in 1756 in Tohickon, Bucks, Pennsylvania.[1]. There is no information given on their parents in this record. An examination of the original record might yield more information.

A death date for Anna Maria is given as 14 May 1820, btu no source has yet been found to confirm this.

Research Notes

Parents

While it is uncertain who Anna Maria's parents were, a clue might lie in the baptism record of her daughter Naemi who was baptised on 24 Mar 1771 in Lehigh, Pennsylvania.[2] One of her sponsors was Thomas William, who might be Anna Maria's father or brother.

There are also two other Williams/Willems connections:

Given the estimated birthdates of Thomas (1723) and Neaima (1725) it seems unlikely that they are the parents of Anna Maria, who was born about 1736. However, as there are no sources for any of these dates, it is possible that they are incorrect and that Thomas and Neaima are her parents.

The name of her daughter (Naemi) and that of Thomas's wife (Neaima) would seem to indicate a close relationship. If Thomas was Anna Maria's older brother, it doesn't seem likely that she would name her daughter after his wife. It is far more likely she would name her after her own mother.

Proof of Thomas and Neaima's birthdates and that of Anna Maria would help to clear this up. Patterson-15268

Nicholas Koppel and Nicolas Copple

There has been some confusion between Johann Nicholas Koppel)of Pennsylvania and Johan Nicolas Copple, of Maryland/North Carolina. Both are linked to women with a similar name, Anna Maria Williams and Maria Anna Catherine Wilhelm (abt.1728-abt.1782) and their marriage dates have been conflated.

Some online trees cite a marriage date for Maria Anna Catherine WIlhelm and NIcolas Copple on 28 September 1851 in Bedminster, Bucks, Pennsylvania while the other NIcholas is recorded as marrying this Anna Maria Williams on 28 September 1856 in Tohickon, Bedminster, Bucks, Pennsylvania.[3]. While it is likely that one man married Anna Maria Williams and the other married Maria Anna Catharina Wilhelm, it is unlikely they were married on the same day in the same place, 6 years apart. This is likely a data entry error.

A marriage record for the other couple would clear this up definitively. Patterson-15268
