DIED AT THEIR POSTS 1919, INFLUENZA ATTACKS NURSES [1]
Influenza has proved more dangerous than enemy bombs to Australian nurses. Within a month three have died from influenza at the Fremantle quarantine station.
Miss Hilda Williams was a daughter of Mr William Williams, of Claremont, West Australia, formerly of Victoria, and niece of Mr H. J. Baker, Court street, Box Hill.
She trained at the Children's Hospital, Perth, but came East to gain further experience.
After completing the full course at Royal Hospital, Paddington, Sydney, Miss Williams returned to West Australia at the close of 1917.

She volunteered for service at the quarantine station a few days before the Christmas holidays, and became infected after a brief period of duty. Her eldest sister, Nurse Alice Williams, is on active service. Lieutenant Arthur Williams, her only brother, was killed at Pozieres, after seeing service at Gallipoli and Egypt. . . more . . .
