My interest in genealogy started at a very early age. I remember when I was small, traveling up to Canada and hearing about how one of my great aunts on my dad's side had been working on the family tree. She had found a William Penn in the family tree. She was so excited because she thought that it was THE William Penn. Unfortunately, I found that it wasn't. However, her excitement got the interest sparked in me.
Then in the 1990s, my mom and her sister went on a hunt to find out more about their maternal grandfather. They were only told that his name was Ian Flynn and that he died shortly after my grandmother was born. They ended up having to hire a genealogist just to find out that his name was actually John Flynn (not Ian which is what he was known as at home). They also found out that their grandmother's name was Mary Reynolds Flynn and not Maisie as they were told. Apparently, the family went by the Gaelic forms of the names at home while legal records all showed their Anglicized names.
It wasn't until many years later that I tracked down that John Flynn had actually emigrated from Scotland to America thereby abandoning his family. This was also something that my mom & aunt didn't know.
My main list of names are:

Please make sure each bit of DNA test information is added to the actual test participant's profile, not someone else's like your own. To make cousin connections, WikiTree needs to see the FamilyTree tab. Check that your Privacy on your profile is set to "Private with Public Family Tree" as a minimum. (Living minors should have an Unlisted privacy level.)
Please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include DNA and other terms on the (G2G) feed: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following
As you add your family lines and connect to the big WikiTree, you may find new cousins. Use the Relationship calculator to see if you are related to me, Cooper-1 with http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Relationship
I noticed your merge of Docherty to LNAB Doherty. I have no problem at all with the merge. I am married to an O'Doherty. Doherty is the oldest living members' (Patriarch of our branch) name. So our Cousin Hugh is the oldest living male heir to the family so he goes by Doherty. When he passes our cousin Andy will take the name Doherty. The Original family name, though, is O'Dochartaigh. Some families in our clan have taken on the modern spelling of Docherty. Just thought I'd tall you about this - If you already know? Thanks for your work. Mags
